I’m a journalist and writing coach based in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley. I write most often about marginalized children and young adults, and the intersecting policies — educational, environmental, political, and economic — that shape their lives.
My work appears in The Atlantic, Wired, Fortune, The Huffington Post, Barron’s, The Hechinger Report, The New York Daily News, USA Today, U.S. News and World Report, and other outlets.
Since 2018, I’ve been a regular contributor to Mansion Global and Penta, covering real estate trends, niche luxury markets, architecture, and design.
My award-winning investigative coverage of divisions in the East Ramapo School District (The Journal News, 2011-2015) was cited in an episode of the public radio show This American Life (A Not-So-Simple Majority, 2014.)
My story in The Atlantic about the California drought and its impact on migrant workers and public education was recognized by Longreads, in the Best of 2015: Science reporting.
In addition to my own reporting, I edit and fact-check books, articles, and audio projects for other journalists and authors.
Beyond journalism, I research, write, and edit copy for blogs, case studies, and white papers on a contract basis. My clients tend to be mission-driven brands, nonprofits, and universities.
I’m a volunteer mentor with the New York City-based nonprofit Girls Write Now, where I coach girls and gender non-conforming youth as they publish creative writing, produce multimedia projects, and prepare for life after high school.
In my free time I love to hike mountains, run trails, practice yoga, and dance.
